COUTURE TAILORED FOR THE CONTEMPORARY WOMAN
Based in New York City, the heart of the fashion world, La Dîme vows to maintain true European couture discipline–to never compromise on aesthetic, craftsmanship, and quality material. Each piece by La Dîme is created with care and a mindfulness for perfection.
“Couture Fashion is art, and women who wear it make it alive” – It is from this belief that stems La Dîme’s goal: to empower and energize the contemporary woman with couture’s elegance and beauty. A contemporary woman is adventurous and always on a hunt for something different; she emboldens others who want to make a difference. Rather than just going with the flow, she values herself and deserves nothing less than the appearance and feeling of true luxury. Designer Irene Yang is inspired to make a statement piece for her individuality.
With an emphasis on customization, La Dîme provides a full range of services from Made-To-Order to Bespoke Design. We invite you to embark on a journey to your bespoke luxury empire, for you and only you.
OUR DREAM
MAKING YOUR DREAM A REALITY
Growing up, a girl would have a dream dress and imagine herself wearing it like a little princess. “When I worked in retail personal shopping at a young age,” Irene says, “I encountered many career women in all walks of life from executives on Wall Street to journalists. If there is one thing they have in common, it’s that despite their commitment to work, their eyes sparkle when I talk to them about fashion. I think all women still have a place in their hearts for that dream dress regardless of where they are in life. I have been blessed with the opportunity to develop a skill set in fashion, and I want to help those beautiful women build their fashion dreams.”
BRAND ETHICS
CONSCIOUS LUXURY CREATED WITH SUSTAINABILITY IN MIND
Because La Dîme believes in the value of Bespoke fashion’s Old World craftsmanship and modern sustainability, our garments are constructed mostly by hand and are made to last. By bringing back the bespoke business model, we make clothes only when there is someone to wear them. And here you are, are you ready?
We value each customer that chooses La Dîme, so naturally we do our best to take care of them. The majority of garments created by La Dîme are lined with natural fiber to protect the delicate skin of our customers. By reducing the use of toxic, man-made materials, our products will promote the health of the environment and our customers’ well-being in the long run. And that’s certainly something to confidently celebrate in today’s uncertain times!
THE DESIGNER
Irene Yang
Irene has always seen the world through an artistic lens. This instinct began as a child, when she was educated in several creative media–from the piano to calligraphy, drawing, watercolor, and oil painting. Renaissance artists such as Da Vinci and virtuosic pianists like Chopin and Beethoven, as well as Asian art traditions, have long inspired her love of elaborate detail. By 2007, it was time for Irene to leave home in Taiwan to major in art in California.
As an art student, Irene felt something was missing when she saw her works hanging lifelessly on display in a gallery. One day, she had an epiphany about fashion design: “Fashion is wearable art, and wearers will breathe life into it.”
After graduating from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Fashion Design, Irene moved to New York City to pursue her vision in fashion. With new resolve and determination, Irene sought after all attainable resources to perfect her knowledge and skills in the world of couture. Soon, she landed an apprenticeship in the House of Zac Posen, where she kick-started her professional career.
Over the ensuing years, Irene increased her depth of knowledge and expanded her creativity in positions with corporates to mid-sized companies in Manhattan’s legendary garment district. After her day job, Irene would often take hands-on projects in her private workshop. In the fall/winter of 2021, Irene sees the uncertainty of the pandemic as a bold opportunity to launch La Dîme, as Bridal Fashion remains a necessity for brides in the Covid era. With her uncompromising aesthetics and an eye for the art of couture, Irene’s goal is to build a culture where “women wear luxury because they know they deserve nothing less.” Her insistence on impeccable craftsmanship and an artistic eye for creative style will surely be worth watching in the years ahead.
